    hey,

Recently my right hand click button on my touch pad doesn't work. It was working then suddenly it doesn't work. I have to press the button quite hard to get it to work - NOT GOOD! Can this is fixed? Still on warranty so i'm thinking ill send it back to where I bought it from. Is this hardware issue or software?

I can't tell which one because, hardware - I have to press down hard to get it to work and software because it just stop working suddenly.

    Any suggestions or thoughts?

If you have a warranty, just send it back to get it checked. I heard Sony's customer support was outstanding. You may even get it fixed on the same day. ;)

Here in Australia. I sent it to the shop i bought it from and they had the laptop sitting on their waiting list to be sent out for 5 or so weeks!

I did a bios update for XP, im wondering if vista will still install?

Is Sony customer service in Australia really that bad?
Did you try calling them to verify what the problem might be?

I'd re-flash the old bios to confirm that's what did it. What is your model and what were the bios versions? Was it a fresh install of XP or did you use their downgrade disc? There are some things you can do to troubleshoot before sending it in.

My experience with Sony customer service is the exact opposite of Coassack's. When possible I'd rather not involve them. If you feel comfortable (and it you determine it to be hardware related) you can order a new part (with or without the fingerprint reader) from parts and services and fix it yourself. If not then take advantage of the warranty while it still lasts. Make sure you back up everything before sending the unit it.

    Good luck.

    ey,

Bios has got nothing to do with it. Ive had xp running for a few months now, no problem. It was just the other night it stoped working 100%. As I am typing this message the right hand button works. Just waiting untill it packs up again. So i can send it in.

Did you try to install/reinstall latest touchpad drivers (Apoint)?
If this does not help then you should replace it.
