I'm trying to find my serial number, because underneath I can only see the first half but the last section has started to rub off. Is there any utility I can run to see what my Sony SZ serial number is?

I need it to log into the Sony VAIO link website. Thanks!

You can use the Vaio central program that came with the computer.
    I prefer Lavalys Evergreen.

It should be readable in the BIOS, too.

I too need to find the serial number and product code in order to register with the Vaio-Link site for support for my FE21S. The machine was tecnically 'refurbished' but was in fact 'as new' but as a result the serial number is obliterated.

Duckfart, can you please say which supplied program it is that can be used to show the serial number and exactly where to find it? Alternatively, is Lavalys Evergreen a current program or now obsolete? I cannot see reference to it on the Lavalys site.

TinyRK, can you please explain how to read the BIOS and where the serial number might be found?

    Thanks, ultraviolet

Just enter the BIOS (press F2 while booting) and you'll find your serial on the MAIN-Site.

    Open VAIO Support Central

You can find your S/N on the top! Super EZ.

Thanks, TinyRK and Ch28Kid - got the serial no.....very easy when you know how!

I see that Lavalys Evergreen has been replaced by Lavalys Everest - a trial can be downloaded from the Lavalys site. The Ultra edition supports Core2 Duo.
