This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    SZ Vaio Firewall problem HELP!

    Hi All..

    I just bought a Sony Vaio SZ-VGN28GP, running on XP(pro), i know this is an old model, but i bought it new, it is not discontinued stock in Australia.

    I uninstalled the firewall that came with the Vaio, and i'm currently connected via WLAN

    Then i installed MSN, but it wouldn't connect, with an error msg, saying to check the firewall settings.

    So i checked the windows firewall, and that had MSN allowed.

    I try to log in again, but still same msg.

    Then i turned off the Windows firewall all together, but it still wouldn't work.

    Does anyone else have similar problems?
    My internet explorer works fine, and the connection is excellent.

    Please help, this is getting really annoying
