    Hi all,

I recently bought an SZ-680 model, without the integrated WWAN, as I thought it could not be used in Europe.

Now I see that the EU models also carry it, does anyone know if it is possible to add this component to the laptop?

Or would this be too difficult?

    Many thanks!!

well i don know if you could do it internally but i do know, a simple expresscard will work fine with it, just pop it in....(i would buy the wwan card off ebay or something so you don't have to get any kind of contract)

It's a mini PCI card manufactured by Option called the GTM378
    http://www.option.com/products/gtm_378.shtml
It's an ODM product which means its a B2B product (not available to consumers)
I'm not sure if you could install this though, because I don't know how you would fit the sim on the card (I don't believe the US SZ's have a sim slot on the computer....perhaps someone with an EU SZ could chime in as to whether the Euro SZ's have a sim door).
Physically installing a minipci card is easy......I have a TZ arriving today and would also like to change out the sprint wwan for an HSpda wwan....Let me know how it works for you.
BTW...finding an ODM part won't be easy, but it's not impossible....I have a US ASUS with a built in US tuner minipci....I wanted to watch Euro Digital TV (DVB-T) as a travel a lot there....I was on a trip to Dubai & ASUS have an awesome service center....5 mins of sweet talking and I walked away with A DVB-T mini pci (Avermedia)...works great....Moral of the story...persistence pays off.
    Good Luck

Also -- there is the issue of the antenna -- I think the newer SZ6's have internal WWAN, but if you bought one when they just came out, there was an external antenna

If you got a model without the WWAN, there is no place for the antenna to be attached

I think this is what you wanted to see:

That's an EU model. I have a US model as well, and I'd love to be able to use the super fast HSDPA network we have in Aus (although we have an EVDO network as well but I think Telstra are upgrading to HSDPA soon).

Drvec...thanks for that photo....as I said I just bought a TZ....wow what a great little computer....I was very concered with it out ofthe box, as it really crawled...did a clean install....now it's a little pocket rocket :)....Your photo let me know where to look for the sim door, and there is indeed a little sim door (blanked off) on my machine....I'm going to find the Option card some how and convert the machine to an HSPDA model....

Does anyone know where to source the Spring WWAN module? I know they come in the US spec TZ's, but I'd like to add one to my TZ90.

    Any ideas?

I would be interested as well - if you can switch the sprint for a HSDPA modem in the TZ series.
