I'm almost set to buy an SZ Premium through Portable One (unless the LG P300 comes out soon).. and want some advice about the warranty. This is a really big purchase for me, and I won't be able to just buy a new laptop if this one dies. I was going to skip Sony due to reports of terrible customer service, but I've been convinced that buying from P1 will neutralize that concern. I'm also counting on Sony's supposed "good build quality", which is the primary reason I'm going with a VAIO and not a Dell XPS. My question is - is P1's 4-yr Accidental Onsite worth it over the regular 4-year? It's a difference of almost $200. I want to protect the laptop for as long as possible and from all threats possible, but that $529 is a big pill to swallow and starts eating into my peripherals budget. Thanks for any responses.

I shall direct your concern to a responsible person in P1, who is in the best position to explain the difference in coverage between the 2. Please allow him till the end of next week (latest) to reply.

That sounds like a wonderful idea. Thank you, Benjamin.

Thanks Benjamin. The Sony VAIO warranty you mention is a 4 Year Onsite + Accidental Service gaurantee, so for 4 years you would have complete piece of mind that your unit is covered even if you accidentally break the LCD etc; now I personally would only get a 2 year service plan since I change machines more often, but if your looking to keep your machine 5 years that is a good option. Other nice thing about those warranties is if in 4 years Sony does not have the parts neccessary to fix the machine they give you a newer machine replacement.

Ivan, thanks for the quick reply. I do intend to keep this laptop a while which is why I'm considering the big warranty.
Just so I'm clear - if I buy that warranty through your site and something goes wrong, do I send it to you or to Sony? Or whomever I prefer?
PS - People speak very highly of P1's service and I have to say I love all the little things you throw in, so I'd like to buy my laptop through P1 if the price and machine are right. Any chance of P1 carrying the LG P300 if it comes to the US or do you not do LG?
