This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     SZ after repave: install new network component?

    I am just finishing a clean XP Pro install on my SZ110 and ran into an interesting problem:

    1. go to Network Connections
    2. open Properties for your Local Area Connection
    3. click "Install"
    4. select "Service"
    5. click "Add"

    What happens? Do you get a "Select Network Service" dialog as you should or an error that says it cannot find the inf file?

    I used to get the error and had to remove the registry key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DevicePath

    are recreate it with the same value, but with type REG_EXPAND_SZ instead of REG_SZ.
