I wrote previously about battery not being recognized by my SZ and eventually managed to receive new one from Sony (UK), during my short visit this week.

However, I fear that problem was not with the battery itself, but actually with the laptop. I have left the new battery to charge for 12h and Windows Power meter shows 100% (charging). Immediately after I removed the AC plug, it shows 95% capacity. It might be that charging unit is misbehaving...

Look at the attachements, which shows the SZ and an old Dell D505.

SZ owners, do you have the same display as this one? Or have other experiences?

    I think its normal.

I have yet to see a notebook battery that when unplugged shows 100%.

Thanks, but what about that (charging) note. It's not there on the Dell screenshot.

Remember, this is after 12h of being plugged in - it certainly should have stopped charging long ago...is it?

Here were some dicussions about that moths ago.
It is a common thing with Sony Laptops. Just search around in this forum, and you will find out that I do have the problem too, like everybody here. :)
Nothing to worry, even when it is still not the same compared to other Laptops.

No charging note on my SZ. When the computer is on AC power and the battery is at 100%, the power meter will list it as "on AC power", just like the screenshot from the Dell you provided. My SZ never says "100% - Charging".

I haven't checked, but, like others have said, the immediate drop in charge (100% -> 95%, or whatever) when you unplug the AC adapter isn't anything to worry about. I think it happens to everyone.

Well, for what is worth, I own a SZ110 that I barely use (I have a TX650 which is my primary laptop) and it was on 100% and I disconnected it and played with it a litle bit (around 10 minutes) and the battery showed it had left 97%. No 5% drop on mine..

I have sent the screenshots with question to Sony online support, I will see what they say.

Oh --- I confirmed yesterday that when my computer is at 100% (and says "on AC power"), and then is subsequently unplugged, the battery meter will still read 100%, and then trickles down from there. There's no jump from 100 -> 95.
