    When i close my computer lid it automaticly shuts me off of the internet. THis is very annoying since being a college student i rely on aim to get all of my information for the night. Is there anyway to remedy this?

    Most laptops do that I think, some even shuts off completely forcing you to reboot.

    Go into the 'Power Options' in your control panel. Jump to the 'Advanced' tab, and adjust the setting for "when I close the lid...." as desired.
