I just got a SZ340p. Here are my impressions:

Pros: small, relatively cool, nice screen

    Cons:
    AC Adaptor is huge

Keyboard has a lot of flex in the middle and left-hand side (below D F G)

Computer doesn't sit straight on my desk. I've tried it in other desks. The right-had side/front corner is suspended.

Fan is noisy and never stops. The computer seems to be cool most of the time. I'm surprised that the fans keeps running.

Bloatware: lots. But I don't think that a clean install is necessary. I simply uninstalled the junk.

i just got the sz340p as well. im happy with it. with a decent bag, it is very portable around campus.
pros: about 4lbs, great screen, ability to switch graphics card on and off, battery life is ok averaging around 3:45-4:30 depending on settings. the sony card slots, bluetooth, webcam, mic, all great little thing. runs very quiet and very cool compared to my old Dell.
cons: same issue with keyboard, but doesnt really bother much, but didnt have problem like that with other notebooks, only 512mb memory but for about 100 bucks i can get up to 2gig by buying them at tigerdirect.com. i dont like the sandpaper feel of the cover. only 2 usb, 4 would have been nice. 100gig harddrive which is really like 80 due to all the preloaded software, but an external drive can fix that problem, there are some 60gig drives around that are no bigger then an ipod 30gig. a/c adapter is a ***** to lug around, too heavy and big.

overall it is a great laptop, and i paid less the 1k for it so it was a steal. can barely feel its weight when in a backpack. i listed more cons, but these are all very minor things in my opinion, only real con i see is the keyboard and power supply that is a hassle to carry.

has anyone tried to push the limits of the graphics card with some of the newer pc games or CAD software??

I dont know why my SZ430N is pretty hot, I cant even put it on my lap. The fan still running & my laptop runs perfectly (only sometime the fingerprint cant be regconized, dont know why). Using "Notebook Hardward Control" and it says my CPU & HDD temperature is 75 & 60 Celsius. What should I do on my own now, because I cant send to Sony Care from my place. Thanx alot. Should I get one laptop cooler pad ?
