    Gidday guys.

I use mt SZ483 in Stamina mode pretty well all the time due to flying a lot, but installing Trend Micro seems to have killed it. Now when I start it up, it takes at least 5 minutes for Trend Micro to load, during which time I can't do anything else, as (I assume) it's using too much memory for anything else to load. Can anybody point me in the right direction, or give me some advice as to what Anti-Virus does agree with the Sonys?

On a slightly different note, task manager tells me that although I have 2G RAM, 0.9G is being used when it is just sitting idling. I can only see about 0.3G being used by the listed processes, what is sucking the rest up?

Right at this moment, it tells me 800M being used

uninstall trend micro...see if that fixes it

and disable it during startup (run:msconfig) - if you choose not to uninstall it

Deleted Trend Micro and it's back to normal.
Is anyone out there running Trend Micro on a SZ series, if so are you having any problems?
What does everyone recommend for the Sonys as far as Anti-Virus goes

    Thanks guys.

i run kaspersky internet security on my sz483nc. once it has gone through the initial prerequisite full scan of your system (only need to run once), i barely notice any performance difference.

try "symantec antivirus corporate for windows vista", dont confuse it with norton. its a no-frills basic anti-virus that gives you gr8 protection without hogging any resources.

Well, it was definitely Trend Micro.

I reinstalled it as an experiment, with it disabled at startup, and my machine went berserk again. I have no idea what is going on, maybe a conflict with some Sony software somewhere? I uninstalled Nortons, turned off Windows firewall and Defender, but as I say, it still went crazy and wouldn't respond. So, I bought a copy of Kaspersky, and as Lua said, after the initial long My Computer scan, it is all good now. Anybody got any ideas what may have been going on?

    Thanks for your help.
