So I suppose I have just been living with it, maybe thinking it was a glitch. Whenever I single-click, either with the trackpad button or by tapping the touchpad, it will act like a single click and then half a second later it will act like a double click.

For example, if I want to just highlight a folder, I (single) click on it. It highlights it for a second, and then it automatically opens the folder. It is obnoxious.

Any ideas? I looked around in the touchpad control panel, and it didn't seem to find my answer. help!

Does the phenomena you're describing ONLY apply to folders?
That's not a glitch then, I feel your pain too.

Why do you say it is not a glitch? That is not standard windows behavior.

    It's not a glitch....
go to control panel > Folder Options > General Tab > Under Click items as follows > change single click to open an item to Double click to open an item.

    that's it!!

Yup thank you. This is the first computer that I have used where this option was enabled by default. I found the solution here also:

Heh --- when I bought my most recent laptop, windows had this feature enabled. It took me a long while searching through all the windows display options to track this solution down.. I can never seem to remember where to find it. :)
