Do you think the Vaio-SZ prices would drop during the next holiday season in december?

Only on models that are about to be replaced, so don't expect any price drops unless competitive pressures dictate so. Besides, Sony has never really left its $2200 price point for its premium line since the early part of this decade.

    Hmm

If I remember correctly, SZ3xx release middle of September...

So I wouldn't see any price drop... at least I hope not...

Unless Intel pulls out some Intel Duo Core 3 (i made that up)

I think they may drop the price by $100 in December some time. Then a new model will probably come out in February when you will probably be able to get a SZ-360 for $1799. Does anyone else think this will happen?

No, SZ2XX have the same price as SZ3XX for quite a while. I will expect the same thing happen with SZ3XX when SZ4XX come out.

Its probably worth the price even if doesn't drop, to be honest. What with the dual dedicated and integrated graphics, sleek looks and under 4 lbs weight, its a great series.

I do. But not on SonyStyle or any of the major store retailers, which phase out the older models quicker than other places. Since a few months ago when the SZ 300 series launched, you could get an SZ 270 Premium for $1650-75 (including $125-150 rebate).

Also, I have experience with SonyStyle.com slashing prices on their computers in December as well. I remember this was the case when I bought my last Vaio two years ago, and they also offered a better mail in rebate to boot. The deal was so good I returned my computer (bought in late November) and purchased the same one and still saved $200 eating up the cost of shipping the old one back. Don't remember the price drop being the case of a newer model being released either.

I dont see the prices dropping unless sales go down or until something replaces it.

Just like I predicted Sony dropped the prices of all SZ by $100. There might even be another one next month.

Glad I ordered my SZ360 from Amazon last week! Had $150 rebate and free shipping, and it no longer shows it's available from Amazon directly today. :)

How much did you pay? I see they dropped the price to $2049 after rebate. If you paid more then contact them and they will credit you.

Can you supply me with the link? I can only find the Clearance Club listing, not Amazon's own listing, which is how I scored the rebate. I paid $2150, so $100 more.

Never mind, I was visiting without logging in and that doesn't show the "Prime" offerings! Will call to get my credit. Thanks heaps, Sharklover! :)

My prediction is that prices will drop significantly, particularly on Vista non-capable computers, as the Vista release date approaches.

Once Vista is out, expect large discounts on models running Windows XP.

Should we expect the computers running on Vista would be more expensive than the current, non-discount prices?

Could you point out where the price drops are for the SonyStyle.com SZs? I'm not seeing any price drops yet. Are you referring to another region of sonystyle, or the North American one? The SZ 381 is still at its lofty $3k+ price tag and the others seem to still be at their normal price range.
