The LCD spec of TZ says it has 72% ntsc gamut due to the LED backlight. But it seems like most other sony laptops have LED backlight like SZ. I 've seen post claiming the SZ screen looks a bit washed out comparing to TZ screen. Is there any side by side comparison over the internet?

I am in the market for an ultra portable and color accuracy is my no1 concern. Can someone give me suggestions please?

If color accuracy is your #1 concern (and not screen size), I would recommend the TZ series. In an interview with its developers, which someone had posted in this forum, they specifically state this was something they fine-tuned and report that the TZ's screen--unlike other laptops--is almost equivalent to the color fidelity of a high-end TV. If you look at the TZ in person, you'll see its screen is pretty remarkable...

thanks for this info. I feel like i am putting my feet down on TZ. Just for curiosity, do you have any idea what this "fine-tune" means? Is it a different type of LED backlight that has wider spectrum?

I have a TZ & SZ....TZ screen is considerably better. I calibrated the screen with a colorvision colorometer....I also have an ASUS W2p with a 1920x1200 screen....which I thought was just about the best I had seen. I can confirm that the TZ is better....My wallpaper is a B&W fashion shot taken from an EPS file. Even calibrated (which in theory means that the images should be the same) I can see greater accuracy in the TZ.
Quite a lot of the improvement comes from what looks to be a coating on the screen.....It really reduces glare and seems to deepen blacks
    hope the info helps
