    Hi guys,

I have a SZ 7 series that is about 1 year old. It is just out of warrantee. I currently have a big problem with the trackpad:

When I want to move my cursor I would start moving my finger on the touchpad...and SOMETIMES nothing will happen. I.e.i keep moving my finger and nothing will happen. After a bit of moving around the cursor my sometimes pick up again and it would proceed as perfectly normal..

Additionally, sometimes the above would happen in the middle of an already initiate mouse movement. I am completely stumped as to why this occurs.

I am not sure of when this first began (quite recently though)

    Relevant -ves:
-I systemically tested the areas of the touchpad and it appears nil localising defect
-Random onset and spontaneously resolution after a few seconds
-Nil change with battery mode or AC mode
-Nil relation to cleaniness of the pad: I've scrubbed both the pad and my hands to try to get this to work, to no avail
-Nil association with operation of any particular programs
    -Nil improvement with full reformat
-Operation otherwise normal aside from these "momentary unresponsiveness" problems

Any suggestions would be GREAT guys, my laptop us almost unusable as a portable device atm (it works sitting on my desk as i can use a mouse...but thats not the idea).

I think it could be time for you to open up your SZ and see if it is dusty.

About 1 month ago i opened up my SZ7 and quite a bit of dust had collected around my trackpad area and in other places surrounding it. My cursor was freezing on me and forcing me to reboot.

This didn't really seem to happen to me when i used a mouse.

Since i opened up my SZ7 my touchpad cursor has never frozen on me since.

The SZ6-7 touchpads could have been designed better. The trackpad has a gap that will allow dust to get inside.

Also the front vents will attract dust.

If you try it let us know if it made any difference.

Here are some guides to opening up your laptop.
