I've got a premium SZ vaio i only bought last year. It was the SZ380GP/C or something like that I believe. Unfortunately I bought it overseas so can't get local warranty.

Just recently, it has been unable to turn on at all. I've tried changing the battery and power adapter to no avail. I might soon try to open it up and see whats the condition inside.

Does anyone know what are the common causes of the power failure? There is absolutely no response from the computer when I press the power on button. Moreoever, the LEDs do not light up when I attached a power adapter to it.

If you have not already tried this than please try holding the power button for 15-20 seconds. The comment from voht5 above sounds right if holding the power doesn't work.

i've tried changing to power supply with my older FS vaio's one which works and it doesnt help. I've tried switching the batteries too. i'm sure if it was the power supply's fault, the computer would at least switch on with a fully charged battery.

Try to switch on with the battery removed.
Short circuit in battery can cause this symptom.
