    Hi,

Could someone please outline the main differences between these two lines of Sony notebooks? They seems to be really similar but are seperated by an almost $500 difference in price.

    Thanks

The SZ series is built better than the c series because it's a business notebook. Also the sz series includes dedicated graphics whereas the c series only includes integrated graphics. The SZ is also lighter than the c series.

Well lets start with the C series. The C series doesn't have a video card and it is heavier and I believe the battery life is not as strong as the SZ. Also, it is thicker and it is a very good notebook for a non-gamer. If you are into gaming then the SZ series will suit you better due to the high performance. SZ series is lighter and thinner depends on which SZ model you want to get. If you bring the notebook with you most of the time then I suggest you get the SZ due to the weight.

Does the graphics card affect things such as movie watching? I won't be playing games.

    Thanks

Let me say this, some countries do not have the C version with dedicated graphics. However, if your an Aussie, then the SZ has the same graphics card as the C series, what the same amount of VRAM.

Moving watching should be fine on the C series with GMA950.

Yeah, in North America, the C series only has integrated GMA 950 graphics and the SZs have GMA 950 and Nvidia Geforce 7400 graphics.

But in Asia I know for sure, the C series also is available with Nvidia Geforce 7400 graphics.

For movie watching, you won't see a difference between both of the cards, only really in gaming and other 3d intensive applications.

The SZ is a more premium version of the C series and the C series is more budget oriented and to compete with Apple's Macbook.

I read GMA 950 should have no problems.
