    Hi,
i was just curious, as since i put sp1 vista on my sony , the system has been showing the full 4gbs of ram, wheras before, it showed only three gigs.
was this supposed to happen, as its only 32 bit?

SP1 was changed to report the amount of physical memory installed rather than the amount available. The reality is you only have 3 gigs available with SP1 if that is what you had before. I believe the cosmetic change was made to cut down on support calls from new computer owners that thought something was wrong.

I run Business and have no desire to run ultimate. The difference is Ultimate has media center and Bitlocker and I don't need either. If I wanted disk encryption I would use TrueCrypt.

I have two desktops with Ultimate. Waste of money for little extra. The extras I was supposed to receive through the year have never materialized.

If you poke around a bit (in "system" IIRC) you will find an entry that says "total memory available to windows".

    I won't say 4GB

If you check with Task Manager (CTRL-ALT-DEL), the amount of available RAM is still 3GB.
