So now that samsung has started to ship their long awaited hybrid hard drive ( http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=3557) how long is it until the SZ begins shipping with this new drive? I'm hoping a May release to coincide with Intels santa rosa chip. Any thoughts?

Santa Rosa is late 07, not this Spring.

I thought Santa Rosa was coming out this May/June?

I heard there were delays. The reality is that they probably won't hit notebooks in mass quantity 'til Q3 or Q4. There are also problems in that no one currently makes 800MHz memory. I can't imagine how expensive that will be.
Although as much as I love my SZ, if SOny doesn't support the full 800MHz bandwidth, I will not be buying. I may wait for Montevina/Penryn which is coming out in '08. -
Santa Rosa is going to be out in May. Dell and another company have already announced they're releasing Santa Rosa equipped notebooks in April.

The following memory has been out for some time:

No 2GB memory out yet - only 1GB sticks. Bah. I can't go back to 2GB of memory in total.

Yah, the 800mhz FSB speed won't be a problem (assuming you only need 2GB). So the question is if Santa Rosa is due in May or not, I havn't read any reports that have suggested otherwise.
Also, it looks as though the Robson technology on the santa rosa platform performs the same duties as a hybrid hard drive.

Santa Rosa will be released in May. It was even posted on this site:
