Upgraded to Vista Ultimate - no wireless and no sound! It says SmartWi has compatibility problems when I boot up, and then the wireless adapter shuts off! I tried to download the VISTA driver updates but it won't let me run Download Taxi - says I have to be logged on as an Admin - which I was!! Tried to download the Intel Wireless driver by itself - Error 404 Page Not Found!!Got online with Sony 4 times "I can help you with that probleM" from 4 different people and none of them could. Argh!

Anyone else with a better upgrade experience? Is there a way to uninstall Vista?

No, there's no way to uninstall Vista.

If you still have your XP disks, I suggest you reformat the system back to XP, then perhaps try to upgrade again. That may get the bugs out.

    Then again, it may not.

I wonder if I did a Clean Install if it might at least find working drivers for the wireless and sound... then download the other drivers

Try it again and this time use the 'clean install' upgrade trick.

Thanks! I did clean install and wireless and sound work great. Main thing missing is camera. I tried downloading the camera drivers from the Sony site and no luck so far. Also Fn keys not working yet. But the main things the upgrade install didn't work with - wireless and sound - are fixed!

    Hello,
Allow me to help you with your inability to run Sony DL Taxi. I too have an SZ and this was a hard lesson learned on my part as well. I would like to save you some time. Right click on the DL Taxi icon on the desktop and choose "Run as Administrator" that should do the trick. Remember this: To successfully install Sony drivers there is an order (and Sony doesn't even know it and if they do, they aren't saying). Install the shared library and DLL updates first. After installing and uninstalling for a couple of hours, I was able to get everything but the webcam and biometrics to work. I hope this helps.

One can use the XP drivers for the camera and it will work. that is what I did, and have the camera working fine. I have been running Vista for two months.

I am not a big fan of upgrading (leaves too much junk behind), and always do clean installs
