I am getting ready to order and SZ, and the CompUSA across the street has the 370 in stock. Having direct ordered my S580 from Sony, I would rather not do it again.

As far as I can tell the SZ-370 is a more "premium" model than the 390, with the "ultra think LCD" (which is nicer, as the CompUSA had a low end SZ right next to it) and premium casing. As for the 381 the only difference I see is the faster processor.

I would LOVE to just walk over there and buy one, just want to make sure I'm not missing some other specs to make it worth ordering a 390 direct

(no, the engraving is not of interest to me, yes I used Sony's "compare" feature but I trust that as much as I trust their direct delivery dates :)

    Thanks!

As far as I can see, the difference between 370 and 390 is that 370 is a "stock" item and 390 is a customable item. If you configure the 390 to have the same spec. as the 370 there is no difference, the LCD is the same, the carbon fibre case is the same.

However the difference between these two and the 381 is that 381 have the "super premium" carbon fibre case, and is equipped with faster CPU (T7400), larger HDD (160gb), same LCD and do not have the cingular antenna on the side.
It is more like a 360 with better case and spec.

Im also looking to buy one of these but not sure what model. Leans more towards a 360 at the moment.

Then again, should I buy now or wait for vista to be installed? :S
