I recently bought an open box SZ-660. How can I check that the hybrid HDD has not being swaped? The Device Mananger does not seem to be giving me too much info.
    Thanks

 I'm not sure what your question is, are you asking if your Vaio came with a HHD (Hybrid Hard Drive)?

Click on your battery icon, then click "More Power Options"

A new window will open. Click "Change Advanced Power Setting." Another window will open.

Click Hard Disk, and there should be two options,

    "Turn off Hard Disk After"

"Windows Hybrid Hard Disk Power Saving Mode"

If it says "Windows Hybrid Hard Disk Power Saving Mode," you have a HHD.

Another way to check is, on your device manager, click on your hard drive and look at its properties. A new window will open. If there is a tab saying "NV Cache," you have a HHD.

Thanks a lot! This is exactly what I was looking for. I see the "Windows Hybrid Hard Disk Power Saving Mode" option within the power options. However the device manager does not show the "NV Cache," tab under the Hard Disk properties. Any ideas?

In the Start menu, go to Computer. Right click on C: drive. Select Properties --> Hardware Tab. Select the hard drive from the list. Select Properties --> NV Cache tab. Here you will see "This disk has 243 MB of NV cache . . . "

Don't worry about it. It happened to me once, probably a bug in Vista.

The device manager shows the disk as "ST91608220AS ATA Device". Can anyone with a SZ-660 confirm they see the same?
    Thanks

Thanks for the info, I had tried that already. When following these instructions I do not see the "NV Cache tab" the only tabs I see are: General, Policies, Volumes, Driver, Details. More ideas?

I just checked mine by looking into the Device Manager. There is a tab labeled "NV Cache" and then the description goes on about 243MB etc...if you dont see it call Sony right away...
