    Hey Guys,

I bought my SZ110/B about a month back. I bought a Sandisk Cruzer Titanium Flash Drive recently and should plug&play. However, I think there is a problem with the driver/software and it does not work. I tried using an external Seagate HD as well with the same issue.

Im wondering if anybody else has faced the same problem? Does anyone know how to solve this?

    Thanks! Sanil.

Did you recently do a semi restore on your SZ like the one from this link?
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=44587&highlight=partial+clean+install

I had the same problem with the Plug and Play not working on the laptop. At first Sony tech told me to reinstall Windows..... Didnt like that part.

Then I found this part in that thread which made everything work again.

From BlackG35 original thread on the semi restore.
If you want to go into the registry edit and do it yourself, just go Start>run> regedit

Even if you didnt do a restore, I think this could work for that problem.

    Good Luck!

Hey MB W163, That link worked brilliantly...........things actually seem to work now finally! ;) And yes I had done a semi-restore earlier...........

But, I had read somewhere that if the HDD protection kicks in, it somehow 'breaks' the Plug&play drivers? Is this true in your case, or should it be okay to keep the HDD protection ? (Read the consumer review section at the bottom : http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EE3CJS/102-9095856-2781726?v=glance&n=541966 )

Also, btw, dont know if you read my other post on the dvd drive. My computer shows me 2 icons for it, one says DVD-RW drive and the other says DVD Drive ( E: & F: ) . Does this happen in yours too?

Thanks a lot, I was sweating doind a whole system restore and you've saved me a lot of trouble!

I'm glad I can help you from doing a whole restore again. Boy was that a pain when I had to go through that.

As for your drive issue, I'm not sure about that. This might sound obvious, but are you running Daemon tools on your laptop?

Also, re the dvd drive issue, Im not much of a 'techie' so as to speak so have no idea what you mean by Daemon tools..............sorry..............can you pls explain it to me?

I tried reading the link but it came up with a Amazon error page. But for the HDD protection, I never heard of it messing up the Plug and Play. My problem was that I installed something extra with the bluetooth I think and it messed up my P&P. The only time I heard about the HDD protection being a problem is when someone accidently bumped it while shutting down and messed up their computer. This was in a different forum though. I havent had problems with the HDD protection on this computer. The only problem I am having now is this stupid spacebar issue. I type and then keep on hitting backspace to retype the word again with a space in between. But thats a different problem for a different time

As for Daemon tools, it is a program that emulates a Cd or Dvd drive. This is good for running images of files and things that you have saved or have acquired. With Daemon tools it shows up as an extra dvd drive in your My computer. It comes in handy for some things.

Now I get what Daemon tools is, yes I porbably do have an some kind running on my system, though Im sure I have it on my other laptops, without this kinf of problem. But anyways, it doesnt really affect performance............. I guess

Also the spacebar issue affects me as well.........though I have adapted to hitting it in the center which has helped alot................. ;)

Thanks for all your input.........you been a huge help! Sanil.
