I've had an SZ120 since they first came out, and have been plagued by a "jumping cursor", where it randomly hops around the screen (usually if not always within the active window). This happens often enough for it to be a pain in the *, but not quite to the extent that I've taken the machine in for service.

I'm not touching the trackpad, nor do I have any similar problems on any other notebook I've used.

    Any thoughts, suggestions, etc.?

I had the same problem with a Sony TX770P and it was driving me crazy. I was thinking of buying another laptop. The problem was solved when I changed the driver from "Alps pointing device for Viao" to "Alps pointing device". The switch is easy and takes only a few minutes. Here is how:

Go to control panel > sytem > hardware > device manager > mice > alps pointing device

Then go to Driver > Install from a list > don't search

There you have a choice of drivers, choose "Alps pointing device"

The system then installs the new driver and you restart your laptop for it to become active.

I hope this does the trick.
