    Question -looking at a SZ 120P - 1GB RAM, 100GB hard Drive, Core Duo 1.83 T2400GHz, is $1599 a good price?

What are you going to use this computer for?

Where/who are you buying it from?

    Are they reliable/reputable?

Do you get a valid Sony warranty?

    What is the return policy?

    How much is shipping/sales tax?

Are you using a credit card – what is the interest rate?

General web browzing, some light gaming, vista beta, office beta etc.

    Comp USA

    Valid warranty

    12 months interest free

    New Open Box

I think that answers all of the questions - so is $1599 a good price?

This price is resonable. But why don't you buy newer verion (220) which may be better as some bugs on 120 have been fixed.

Assuming the CompUSA deal comes with XP Pro then I would say that it's an OK deal.

On SonyStyle can configure a newer 200 series SZ240 with the same specs and the same free financing for $1759.

I suppose that with the CompUSA deal you save $150 and get it now, by getting it from Sony [for example] you get a brand new and updated notebook.

    Tough call.

For me, the brand new, updated 200 series would be well worth the $150 but I can understand why others would disagree.

Just configured the SZ240 on their site and matching the same specs - processor, bluetooth etc it came to $1869, so almost $300 less? I think if i pushed the comp usa guys I could have gotten anothe $100 off.

I think $1599 is a pretty darn good price since I paid somewhere in the neighborhood of $1900 for my SZ120P/B back in May, lol.

Just out of curiosity, is there something the 240 has that the SZ120 lacks aside from the obvious faster processor option?

Why don't you take the SZ230P/B with the same specs (only HDD 120G) for $1899. The SZ230P/B is original model made in Japan so the quality may be better!!!
