I have recently purchased Sony Vaio SZ120P, but I noticed that the screen brightness is not as good as usually with other notebooks especially brand new ones. The resolution is crisp, but the brightness is not Bright White rather Yellowish in nature for example I just compared it with Sony Vaio TX series smaller notebook. There was a shocking difference, Bright White Vs Faded Yellow. Could this be something wrong with my screen or is it LCD or Light manufactured quality issue?

Well, I recetly saw the regular SZ live, and I can say the screen was really good. Though there was a big difference between the regular and the premium. I dindn't notice any yellowish color, you should check that.

PD. At the end I went for a macbook, so I didn`t use the laptop that much to say that is not common

Actually it is not yellow, but creamy pale. Sort of a difference between a White tubelight and a light from a filament bulb which is not as white.

Are there any settings for Color Temp - either on the screen, the BIOS, or the graphics card?

play around with the color settings for a bit. that should help with the look of it. I am actually very happy with the screen.

Guys, you should have done your homework before buying - there were TONS of threads discussing this in great detail when the SZ series was first released earlier this year. It is common knowledge that the non-premium SZ screens do not compare with the led-backlit displays featured on the SZ series... always use the search button!

That's probably te best analogy I've seen to describe it so far. I must admit I was a little disappointed (especially coming from a Fujitsu CrystalView) considering the price tag and the fact that Sony's LCD screens have always been previously pretty well regarded. But I have eventually gotten used to it.

Yup this was explained b4 in a few posts. I went from the 120 to a 160. BIG difference, worth the price upgrade. Sony should've just made all the laptops with this type of screen. I'm guessing the LEDs for the laptop was hard to get since it was "new" for the 13in screens so they made it a premium only option.
