Does anyone know if the SZ140...

    - can adapt to standard 230/240V power, or only works with US one (110V, is it)? Will one of the Schuko plug-in power adapters be all that's needed to make the 140 work? (The laptop will _only_ be used with EU power, the only 110V use that I expect it to be involved in is a test after the purchase...)

    - has the right Alt key? I need it for national diacritical signs; without it, the laptop would be of little use.

It probably will work here in Europe too. But keep in mind a couple of things when you plan to import a lappy:

    - Your warranty might not be valid outside the US - unless you get an international warranry.

    - You must clear customs with the new notebook. If you do not so and if you bring your new lappy in an original package to Europe the border police may ask you if you have bought it in the US. In that case you might have to pay a penalty....

    - You can switch the keyboard and get a language specific version. Check with spare part websites on the internet.

I read the "international warranty" note on Sonystyle and I'm not even in the (short) list there, so it's pointless; as for the duties, the "anti duty" plan is carrying this as personal luggage through all the airports :D.

By the way, I just found some hires photos of the SZs, and they seem to have the "full" keyboard, with both Alts. Looks like the 140 will be my choice after all. :)

Can confirm that sony will not honour the warranty what so ever (unless youve bought the international warranty), if you ring tech support in the UK they will charge you 12 pounds fifty pence for any help given over the phone,

The voltage is no worries what so ever, plugged a uk travel plug on the end
