    Hey guys,

I have the SZ160 and for the most part am pretty happy with it, however I have had one REALLY annoying problem for the past few weeks.

When typing on the SZ keyboard at random the cursor will jump to different points in the typing field, be it email, word, etc. My initials thoughts are that this has to do with the touchpad and that it might be too sensitive.

Has anyone had this issue? Is it just my typing style thats screwing me up? Its really annoying because not only does that happen, but sometimes it jumps around, highlights everything I wrote, and then deletes it! Sometimes emails even get sent to early.

Any and all advice is truly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!

Go into the control panel and enter the mouse/touchpad settings. Find a checkbox that reads "disable touchpad when typing" and check it. That should fix your problem.

could it be that youre hitting the touchpad accidentally w your palm? I do that a lot which results to curser jumping randomly while typing

I have done a clean install, and while everything is working fine, I seem to have lost the touchpad control panel settings. I have Apoint folder in PRogram Files (which should be the driver), but nothing in control panel.

Anyone experienced this? How to to make it re-appear?

I got it - reinstall of ALPS driver and control utility gives the settings back: ALDOTH-00199338-US.EXE.

    Works for Sony SZ1XP/C.

I've had more than a few headaches with the ALPS driver on both my FS and FE notebooks. Not fun at all.

I have exactly the same problem with my Compaq nc6400 and thought I was the only crazy person out there. I just posted to the HP forum today and was also advised to change a mouse setting, which also was not appearing on my WinXP control panel. Since mine is a corporate machine, I don't have the liberty to reinstall drivers, etc. but if I can report that it is a documented driver problem I might be able to get my Help Desk to help...

    Hello guys,

For this issue I encouter this problem many times on some vaio's that I handled
and that's why cursor is jumping around it's is because of the touchpad. javylsu
is correct it can be fixed by disabbling the touchpad or you can try THIS.

You probably have a short in your keyboard. Pay attention to your keystrokes, the problem will most likely occur with the touch of a particular key.
