The battery in my SZ160P does not appear to be charging when the machine is shut down. Is anyone experiencing the same behavior?

Make sure it's shut down, not hibernating. I noticed that when my SZ160 goes into hibernation, the battery does not charge. Kinda weird...

Also note that most LiIon batteries won't charge unless they're below 95% or even sometimes 90%.

Mine appeared to not charge the first time I plugged it in. After using the laptop on battery power for a while I shut down and plugged it in. The battery light blinks showing it is charging.
Possibly others are right about the battery needing to be less than full in order to charge. -
Most LiIon batteries are shipped with a full charge, but it gets mostly depleted between then and they time you get it. The SZ is so new, all these batteries are probably still above 90%...

Mine charges in hibernate. I haven't noted the indicator status, but it does charge.
SZ160 battery - not charging when shut down
