I recently use Sony's Direct Customer Care feature on the US Sonystyle website and emailed then about what happened to the Sony SZ160. They replied like this.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Dear SonyStyle customer,

Thank you for contacting Sony Direct Customer Care.

In regard to your question, the SZ160 sold out and will not be offered again. The SZ170 and 180 will be released later in the year. An exact date has not yet been announced for these models. The Merom processor will not be featured on the current SZ line-up.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

I wonder when Merom will be used..

I don't see why they would bother offering the SZ150... seems like a pointless spec downgrade for a "premium" model.

well, there is 400$ gap between premium and non-premium version.
and there is some sense that Sony offers configurable SZ series in non-premium version.

and that would be the sz140? Configurable non-prem version.
