So I'm on an SZ160P with the original OS and Sony drivers/apps. I use the Norton removal tool to get rid of Norton IS 2006 and then installed NOD32 2.7. I'm having an issue now where Internet Explorer will hang for about 10-20 seconds after I enter a URL and hit [enter]...then it'll actually navigate to the URL I entered.

Is anyone else running an SZ with NOD32? It's a popular program so I'm assuming someone is. Can anyone give me some tips...maybe personal experience on how to fix this issue?

    Thanks,
    Jeff

This might be because of the improper removal of Norton Antivirus, because it has some connections with the windows (security center thing - i hope)
Delete all the IE cache.Upgrading the IE to itself (installing IE6 on the IE6 or upgrade might help) because you are bound to come across some websites than only run ok on firefox.
If nothing works.Proceed to the recovery, then uninstall the windows at once.

I have the NOD32 for almost a year now on my SZ150. No single problem at all. If I remember well from some old threads here, the only way to get rid of norton is by doing clean or semi clean XP install....have you done it?

no i haven't done a clean xp install. boo...i don't really wanna do that. this is why i hate symantec...they do everything they can to lock you into their product...and tell you that it's to protect your computer.

oh i forgot to mention that there's no problem when i use firefox...it works normally while IE freaks out at NOD32.

^^ very interesting. I'm not really excited about deleting the recovery partition. I like knowing that I can recover my computer or install apps and drivers whenever I need to...without the DVDs. There's no way to do that semi-clean install and keep the recovery partition huh?

My understanding is you have to format the hdd but perhaps blackG35 or some other guys can give you definite answer.

yea it says that the method listed won't allow you to keep the recovery drive. i don't mind giving up the extra 7GB of space though. i also have partitioned my drive (for easy recovery and no loss of data) but it looks like i'm gonna lose that too.
