So I upgraded to Vista Business with a retail copy. Everything's working fine...still waiting on Sony to release the real vista updates...but one thing that really bothers me is the sound. If I install the update for the SigmaTel device that Sony has on their OS Migration page...the volume is always really low. If I look in my system settings...the volume bar will be at 24, but my VAIO Fn+F4 volume meter shows that volume's at half.
I uninstalled the audio device and let Vista load it's drivers for it...well the volume is consistent now...but when I plug in speakers or headphones...I can't hear anything from them or the onboard speakers.
Anyone having this issue or find a fix for it? Again...I have an SZ160P running Vista Business from a retail upgrade DVD.

Nope, not here, I'm running Vista Business on my SZ160 with no sound problems, it gets really loud. I didn't even install any sound drivers on my own, all the sound is directly from the Vista installation.

And when you plug in headphones or external speakers into the headphone jack the sound comes out of them normally? I wonder what's up with mine....

I just uninstalled the SigmaTel from my Programs and Features...and restarted my computer. Vista told me that the high definition audio device was installed and working...so the sound works...but the headphone/speaker issue is still here. If I go into my sound properties, it lists headphones as a device...and when I test the device...the speakers work...but other than that there are no sounds.
SZ160P + Vista Business = sound issue??
