    Hi Guys,

Love my SZ160...but I consistently have problems shutting down the computer. 80-90% of the time it shuts down but the power and WLAN light is still on and the computer is still on after running a "shutdown." I then have to hold down the power button to shut the computer down. I remember reading somewhere some other people have this problem.

**I have already removed Norton so that is NOT the problem - I run Zone Lab's Zone Alrm Security Suite instead - though that may be the culprit as well...

    Any help is appreciated.

    Best,
    ~r

There's a hotfix from Microsoft that fixes this problem... I have it on my SZ, I'll post it when I get home. If anyone has this file now, please feel free to beat me to the punch!

    That's it exactly! Thanks, dcp...

Rezloh, run that file and you should be in business. I had that problem and running that fix worked like a charm. Hope it works for you!

I'm having a somewhat similar problem, but the hotfix isn't the fix.

My SZ160, when I put it into standby, leaves the WLAN light on...but only when its on battery. If I put it into standby when its plugged in to AC, the WLAN goes off as it should.

    Does this sound like anything?

    Much thanks!

I appears I might have been too optimistic...I'm still seeing the shutdown hang when connected at work. There I have one USB port hooked to my audio interface (a tascam US224) and the other is hooked to a hub holding theprinter, the MS wireless mouse/keyboard, my iPod and at various times either my blackberry or my Casio digital camera.

When I shutdown, it doesn't shutdown completely and hangs with the power and WLAN light on and the computer still running. This proved a bit dangerous as I unknowingly closed the laptop in this state and put it in my bag to take home. When I took the computer out at home later on (about 1-2 hours later), the computer was super-hot - really burning - strange for this computer which runs quite cool. I realized thatthe computer never shutdown and therefore was probably pumping at full power with the lid closed and in a neoprene case - hence the thing burning!

Please, if anyone knows how to get this working I would appreciate it...I have a sneaking suspicion that one of the USB ports is keeping it fromshutting down properly...

I've heard that is a problem with the Intel Pro driver and the Sign In software included. May be you should uninstall them first.

If it won't shut down, I would consider returning or exchanging it...
