    SZ170/180 - It's Official!

    Just saw this on the Sony Style webiste:

    "The SZ premium models (SZ150, SZ160, SZ170 and SZ180) are slimmer and lighter than the standard SZ models and offer cutting-edge carbon fiber casing. Select premium models will also offer integrated wireless Wide Area Network (WAN)132technology.
    >Explore the SZ-Series>."

    In contrast to what I was told my a Sony rep - these models will appear at some point in time. When? I have no idea.

    My friend said Sony customer service claims the no SZ's will be offered until summer May/June!

    170 & 180 come with WAN (yeah, not listed on Sony's comparison page).

    You are correct. From what I understand the 160 and 170 are the same but the 170 comes with Cingular WWAN. The 180 has Cingular WWAN, 120GB HD (compared to 160/70's 100GB) and 2GB RAM (160/70 have 1GB).

    I've heard the 170/180 won’t be ready for sales until later this year (Q3 or Q4 2006).

    It makes sense now as SonyStyle has pulled the 160 from their site and recently pulled the standard line (140) from the site. Rumor has it they are having a hard time keeping up with demand and their backorders are already too much to handle with the supply they are receiving. I hope that’s the truth and not that Sony is having issues with this new line.
