I have ordered an SZ3VWP/X from Sonystyle Europe, and was wondering what the game performance is going to be like.
In particular, I want to be able to play MS Flight Sim X, but several reviews state that I will need a really powerful graphics card to get the full scenery effects.

Has anyone tried it on a 2.16Ghz Core2 Duo SZ ? Surely it will be powerful enough? I know the graphics adapters is not the fastest in the world...

Would anyone be willing to try the Demo? http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimulatorx/downloads.html

The Go7400 will play FSX acceptably. I have been playing it for a couple of days. Frame rate could be better.

That is an understatement. I play FSX too on my SZ2 which runs a T2500 CoreDuo (2*2Ghz) and 2GB Ram and the NV7400Go. And I'm lucky ... really lucky ... when I can achieve 18fps even after a lot of tweaking. I don't wanna deactivate all the eyecandy and have it look like FS5 so at a level that is something like FS9+ I get 15-20fps. That is playable but not very fun. The framerates in FSX could really need some help. The limited mem of the NV7400Go really hurts here, a 512MB card (or 256MB AT LEAST) and FSX flies.

But that is clearly a FSX problem. Besides FSX I also play CompanyOfHeroes, GTR2, SilentHunter3, Civ4, Railroads, Defcon and WCP on my SZ2 and have no problems with high details in any of those games. COH need to run with textures on medium but that is the only compromise needed.

I was wondering if you had any trouble with shipping, assuming your from the States?

I'm looking to buy the VAIO VGN-C190. The euro spec has the GEFORCE and the US spec has the intel integrated.

I got on sonystyle europe and it had great britain as the default country for shipping (can't change).

    any pointers?

    thanks!

No, not from the States. I am based in Ipswich, England.
Funny really, I started to order the SZ380 from Amazon.com, but they wont ship it to the UK (cant get an SX with 160GB disc here !)

    Re: Games
Seems that FSX is really OTT on graphics card use then.
