I've had it with my vaio and win7 x64.
They've made a 64 bit machine, but then don't put up drivers to get it all to work.
My fan is always in high and annoying
Any ideas ???
Edit *** just saw the post with a walk through.. Will test and post my results.

Run Speedfan, and see how warm it is running.

It should sit around 30C-35C for each core at idle. Above 40C means something is acting up.
If it is hot, check task manager and see if something is maxing out your cpu. Some incompatibilities can cause this. If it is just idling along, (10% or so) and still hot, have you checked the power profile, also have you cleaned out the fan and heat sink. The thermal interface between the neatsink and cpu may also be bad. The only way to test this is see if the CPU itself is hot, and the heatsink cold. This could be loose screws or bad thermal compound.
If it is cold, then it is either a power configuration issue, or a software conflict in the power control system.
My sig has a link to the SZ 64bit guide, which is still evolving.
SZ340P and win7 x64 fan wont stop !
