Anyone else have this? Frequently when my laptop goes to sleep or hibernates, then wakes up the mouse pointer is reversed (up is down, down is up, left is right, etc). It's sometimes fixed by a reboot or logoff, sometimes not. The mouse settings all stay set to normal when this happens.

I have same laptop. I never faced this problem.
Have you tried reinstalling the touchpad driver?

This (or very similar) problem has been discussed in this very forum. Try searching for "mouse pad" and you'll find it. The OP had the Alps touchpad replaced under warranty, which resolved the issue. :D

    Hope this helps.

This has happened to me a couple times, and each time turning off the machine and unplugging the AC adapter and battery, fixes things.

    Hope this helps.

I have this problem as well, 90% of the time when I reboot my computer the mouse pad / touchpad reverses directions / inverts the axis! This is incredibly frustrating. I have a SZ330 with the ALPS touch pad. I've tried installing new drivers, with no luck. I have also tried searching around this site, but not finding the article that Nickolai references. Can anyone help me out with that? Has anyone found a solution other then sending the laptop away? Thanks for any help!

My SZ430n has exactly the same problem. I'm also looking for an urgent fix to avoid sending it off for repair. Sounds like a model-specific issue. Any SZ430n gurus out there???

my SZ650N started having this issue as of about 2 weeks ago. Very annoying.

Sometimes killing and restarting apoint.exe (c:\program files\apoint\) fixes it, sometimes not. A google search brought up another thread or two and the solution was also to replace it. I've downloaded and reinstalled driver - no luck. This is under XP

Going to call Sony and see what we can do - I'm not sending my 99% functional laptop in to them because there is a good chance they will format/restore it.

rediculous.. no local center (Los Angeles) to swap the touchpad, and they won't send me the part. I'm not sending the laptop in because it will come reloaded with Vista, and there is nothing wrong with my data or operating system

This is for business use though and they are escalating it to customer relations who may have the power to send the part to me, we shall see

    pretty sucky.
