I think I am pretty much sold on this notebook (if a few things turn out to be true)

My main concern is that the 1.66Ghz core 2 duo will cause some lag when loading desktop apps and games and the like.

I have a good deal on the 1.66Ghz version, so I would prefer to stick with it... but will there be noticible lag on loadtimes of apps such as word or photoshop in comparison to something like a 1.83 or a 2. Is it that noticable? Owners and others replies welcome! Thanks!

I suppose the real question is: which will cause me trouble first? the 7400 gpu or the lower processor clock?

Your 7400 will hold you back in your games. As far as CPU speed, you're better off getting more RAM and a faster hard drive if you want your apps to load quicker.

Can't be worse than what I currently have: Dell Inspiron 9100 with 2.8gh Pentium 4.
