    Hello everybody,

    I have a Vaio VGN-SZ440 that obsessively underclocks the processor C2D T7200.
I checked the temperatures and they are around 55 degrees Celcius (considered pretty normal), and I don't use the Power Management profile (either Maximum Performance, or Power Management Off).

After using the computer for a while, I can see through Vista Performance Monitor that the maximum CPU frequency goes from 100% to 89%, 66%, 50%, 33%, 19%, and so on until it is unusable.

Of course Sony Support has been unable to provide any kind of support, and I am living in France where the U.S. warranty is not valid. They don't even have a support center here, only in Belgium.

I wonder if any of you have already experience this kind of problem and might come with ideas.

    Thank you very much!!

    I found the solution!!

Vista [Start] -> Power Options -> Change plan settings -> Change advanced power settings
[tab] Vaio Power Management -> [click] Advanced -> [uncheck] Enable Vaio Power Management -> *restart

I had this set for 6 months and my computer worked normally again!!
Last week I reactivated the Vaio Power management and the whole nightmare came back, then I rolled back, so now I am sure about the procedure.
