    SZ460 WLAN dies and idle hits 100% on core 1?

    Hmm, so I believe the turning point for this problem was with a recent windows auto update but I'm not positive. I might try a restore rollback today but hate doing that.

    The problem:

    Randomly my system idle process shoots core 1 to 100% use for no apparent reason and WLAN drops connection and then quickly shuts off and disappears (light turns off as well). The switch setting utility, the physical switch, and diagnostics cannot bring it back without a reboot. Meanwhile, my core 1 is still hitting 100% and apparently doing nothing. A reboot is the only thing that fixes it.

    Anyone had this happen? It's rediculous and if I had a simple way to transfer the 20gb of important files, I'd format and start over. Vista and it's compatibility with hardware has been nothing but a headache since day one.

    Get an external hard drive. They're pretty cheap.
