I have an older SZ480 that has been sitting around for a while. I bought a replacement battery for it on ebay and the thing shorted out the charging circuit (literally... smoke billowed out!). Luckily the machine still works fine with no battery installed and the charging light just blinks, knowing that part is toast. Now that motherboard prices should have dropped considerably, I have been thinking about replacing it and selling the machine or using it as a travel laptop.
I took it apart a bit and see the model on the motherboard is A1237101A. When I search this, I see this same model was apparently used on LOTS of models of the SZ. I am not sure what to make of it.
Am I able to purchase any A1237101A motherboard and swap in my CPU and it works?
Alternatively, does anyone know what I could replace (with good soldering skills) on my motherboard to fix a charging circuit that got over-voltaged like this? (and of course I realize that's a long-shot!)
Thanks!
