    Hi :)

Is almost close to a year now, I have not been able to fix up my drivers and get my SPEED mode to work nor install any Geforce drivers. I have look around the web alot for solutions and being cautious (not to damage the notebook) I rarely try anything out.

When first bought end of dec'07, it was running well the first few months till the fan made rattling noise as if the whole notebook didn't had a screw in every hole and was going to fall apart. I send it to SONY service centre couple of times to get it fix and finally the fan issue was gone till I had a BSOD somewhere in mid'08 and all hell break lose from here on.

I have tried to recover my notebook using the VAIO recovery option but everytime I tried and run a scan disk, it picks up many little fragments of files lost. I have been using my intell card to hold up this long to play my game (i have a raid commitment). As of late my intell card can barely hold up all the processing it needs to do and the game crashes, so I have spend the last 3 weeks plus now trying to find a solution to fix up nice and clean as I'm pretty much a burden to my fellow raid members in game when I keep crashing.

In this 3 weeks, I have use the recovery complete restore C: almost once every 3 days. Couple of days back I came across this forums and tried alot of suggested solutions listed but none works and finally I decided I need to open my mouth for help :(

I petty much worn out looking for a solution and looking for advise and directions pointing out the correct steps I need to take to fix my notebook, as Im no computer guru, Im beginging to think after Im done fixing my notebook, I could apply to VAIO service centre and pass the interview with flying colors

Thankyou for reading and I apperciate any help given

My model is VGN SZ58GN/C which I think is VGNSZ670N/C as both models are no longer available. I have tried using the SZ58GN drivers many times after recovery but it doesn't seem to work and everything is just so badly messup :(

I'm in desperate need of help and seek your wisdom

Forgive my english. Being 50% dyslexic 50% asian doesn't help me much to express what I intend to the first time. Plus if typo is language, I would have gotten PHD by now imo >.<

In short, if I'm able to load a gun with all the drivers I need and blast into my notebook now, I would. Unfortunately none of the ammo comes loaded with a VAIO driver :(

    Is there a difference between

    VGN-SZ583N/C and VGN-SZ58GN/C

I can't tell, if someone would please help explain

    ---

    VGN-SZ58GN/C

Cache Memory 4MB Advanced Smart Cache

    Pre-installed/Max 2GB DDR2 SDRAM*3/(upgradeable up to 2GB)
SO-DIMM Slots 2 SO-DIMM slots (The pre-installed memory module uses two)
*3 Since memory modules of the same capacity are installed to both of the two memory module slots, computer runs in dual channel mode and provide better performance.

    VGN-SZ583N/C

    Cache Memory 4MB

    Pre-installed/Max 2GB DDR2 SDRAM*3*4/-
SO-DIMM Slots 2 SO-DIMM slots (The pre-installed memory module uses two)
*3 Since memory modules of the same capacity are installed to both of the two memory module slots, computer runs in dual channel mode and provide better performance.
*4 A portion of the system memory over 3GB may not be available to the operating system. Sony does not guarantee compatibility with memories of other brands.

Okie I found this as the most obvious difference, and now I'm wondering which is mine. =/

edited print screen my PC vaio status screen and device manager which I think the device loaded are wrong, then again Im a comp dummy so I aint sure

edit Just realise the 3N uses Lithium-ion battery(VGP-BPS9A/B)*15 and GN uses Lithium-ion battery(VGP-BPS10)*14 - going to verify which is mine, which I realise I can't yet as Im currently downloading some driver files from this forum and is moving rather "fast" @ 1-2kb/sec and 25mb to go, so Im going to wait till is done

I'm going to assume that you're using Vista 32bit drivers still. If not what exactly are you using?
Have you tried to manually update the driver yourself?
If not, go to your device manager and manually update it using this driver.
    ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/PUB/VAIO/ORIGINAL/SZ7_GRAPHICS_DRIVER.ZIP
If it won't install select the driver inf file and try and force it that way.

I edited your title. Having a clear title always help because people will be more likely to open your thread if they know what it is about.

My OS is Vista 32 bit but none of the drivers seems to work even if I force install them

Diagnostic shows no error on any hardware and I haven't touch the rams yet

Tks for replying and I will try the link you gave me, but I still haven't been able to get speed mode working even thou I have tried some of the regedit tips found in the forums :( any ideas?

    cheers

question: may sound silly but since I have 2 display adapters, how do I tell which is intell and which is gforce? I have tried installing vice versa but nothing seems to work and I just tried the SZ7 Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (7.14.10.1364) which I had to force shutdown due to while it was instaling the driver the monitor when black and I decided to wait, then try Fn brightness and waited somemore for about 15-20mins but the monitor didn't recover so I force shutdown and restart. It booted in F8 mode but I choose to start windows normally, check my device manager and the intell driver was install, not sure why it gave me a black screen during installation w/o recovering itself

Is it normal after uninstallin both adapters and reinstallin intell driver in stamina mode, both will automatically get updated into intell drivers? is happening for me all the time

regarding which display adapter to install the intell and geforce, my choices are as below if it means anything

    1 Location PCI bus 0, device 2, function 0 PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2A02&SUBSYS_9008104D&REV_0C

    2 Location PCI bus 0, device 2, function 1 PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2A03&SUBSYS_9008104D&REV_0C

    tks again >.<

Moffo, I don't know much but you could download nVidia driver and modified *.inf from laptopvideo2go for your specific OS and extract the driver, copy the modified inf to extracted folder then run the setup to install it. If it is only the driver, it should work, but if it doesn't, sorry. Problem is somewhere else then.
To note, you should do it in speed mode.
