Ok so the problem is as follows: after using my notebook backpack (actually bought from sony) I'm starting to see some marks coming from the very edge of the palmrest, just above the touchpad and below the spacebar. I also get random stripes from keys and a big spot from the spacebar. Is this happening to all you others or are you just using a cloth between screen and keyboard?

This is how I position the cloth on my Vaio TZ:

I cover only the most important parts that I feel are vulnerable to touching the screen. It works fine for me. The keyboard sits in a deeper section - almost like a pit, so the keyboard will not touch the screen unless pressure is applied to the lid. That's why I don't cover the entire keyboard.

This was a problem on the SZ2. I eventually bought an Exim screen protector from eBay which was a perfect fit for the screen.

I ordered another screen protector when my SZ7 arrived last week but I haven't applied it yet. The SZ7 has rubber pads in each corner of the screen which prevent the screen from touching the keyboard and other areas when the lid is closed.

There was a thread about this issue some time ago:

I ended up ordering a 12 3/8 x 8 5/8 custom screen protector for my SZ360, and now use the same protector for my SZ780. The dimensions cover the entire surface of the screen, and it works like a dream. Highly recommended!

is this a problem with the SZ7? I heard the rubber pads on the screen were enlarged to prevent this problem. At least, I don't see to have this issue yet.

I wouldn't know if it's an issue with the SZ7XX, as I've continued to use my pre-cut screenguard thing. I mean, why not? ;)

Doesn't a screen protector make a reflection on the screen?

Trust me.. The keyboard is very much touching the screen.. :DDD I really hate Sony for not putting in a microfibre cloth in the first place and now this.. >< Thanks for the link to the other thread, looks like I'll need to get one of those then.. I'm at the point where I can't rub off on of the lines anylonger and quite frankly I'm pissed!

I had those lines on my SZ340 ---- never got them on my SZ360, thanks to the microfiber cloth (and yes, the thing I was talking about it a microfiber cloth screen protector --- not some clear thing that you actually stick on your screen). I've continued to use it ---- it makes a great impromptu dust-rag and fits perfectly on the SZ keyboard.

Prior to the cloth, I had been using the packing material that your computer ships with --- the stuff that they slide between the keypad and the screen. Unfortunately, my cat liked to eat said material, and it quickly lost its usefulness.
