On my SZ680 (2GB RAM) it takes 18 seconds for it to go to sleep (when all the lights go off and only the orange one still blinks).

On my previous S170 it took about 2 seconds.

It seems to me that the laptop is doing a hybrid sleep (ie. write the RAM to disk before sleep). But I have hybrid sleep set to "Off" in my power profiles.

Can others with the SZ6 post their sleep times?

    I did a semi-clean install.

    Could that be the reason?

Can others state how long it takes for your SZ6 to sleep and what kind of install you did?

Can someone else try the "powercfg -a" command on their SZ6 too?

Does anyone know why my firmware does not support sleep?

I installed the recent firmware (from Sony Europe I believe) which fixed the Fn-key after hibernate problem.

I don't see why you'd want to use S1 or S2 states when S3 and S4 are just fine. Read this.

Ah thanks Bogart. I think I should be able to use sleep and hibernate.

Now I just have to find out why it takes 18 seconds (and lots of disk activity) when I try to put my computer to sleep even though I have hybrid sleep turned off.

Anyone have any ideas? Or am I the only one whose SZ6 takes > 10 seconds to sleep?

    Does anyone have this problem?

When I say it takes about 18 seconds I mean between the time I press Sleep and the time all indicator lights go out, except the blinking orange light. Not just the screen going blank.

It really sucks that it takes so long to go to sleep!!

Mine takes about 3-5 seconds; in fact I'm running a lot of IE tabs and a couple of memory intensive programs at the moment and put it to sleep just now, and it took 4 seconds. It takes about 3 seconds to boot back up from sleep too, fyi.

I'm running a clean install from P1 with my specs below. I'm not using hybrid sleep either.
