So I've noticed that from the moment I turn the laptop on the fan is always running. It might take a 30 second break every once in a while but other than that the sound is always there.
The hard drive also seems to make streams of clicking noises every so often, and this is when i'm just surfing the web so the hard drive shouldn't be engaged too much. I'm on stamina setting with the AC adapter plugged in, if that helps.
My bluetooth light is always on and I cannot seem to find the wireless LAN switch program. I've gone into the device manager and manually disabled the bluetooth hardware, but the light is still on. This isn't a functionality problem, really, just a visual one. I'd like to see the blue light off lol. Does anyone know where I can find the wireless LAN switch program?
Can anyone help me with these issues? Or are they just part of the normal functioning of the laptop and i'm just being paranoid.![]()

can anyone help?

To turn off the light push the wireless switch to "off" it's the one to the right of your power button. My 650 also makes a clicking noise every so often, I don't whether it's a problem or not. And my fan seems to be run at all times as well.

pushing the wireless switch to off not only turns off the bluetooth light, but also the wireless light. and doing this disables the wireless device, which I don't want to do. What i want is to have wireless enabled and bluetooth disabled, and for the lights to correctly indicate what is enabled and disabled.
Thanks for your comments on my other questions. I really only needed someone else's experience with the SZ's so i could figure out if it was a problem or just regular functioning. -
You can access the SmartWi Connection utility from the "Start" button, or it may be added to Window Sidebar as SmartWi 4.1 Gadget. From either of these, you can toggle on/off any of the wireless options, including Bluetooth. Blue LEDs are an annoying color, I agree.
The fan should run at lower speed on the Balanced or Power Saver option, rather than High Performance. Having Stamina on, instead of Speed, also helps this.
I've had my SZ670 since September. No big problems, but it's hard drive seemed to click more often in it's earlier months. Or maybe I've just gotten used to it. Good luck and enjoy your notebook. -
i can't seem to find any functionable smartwi utility for the SZ6 series. can anyone give me a link? I've installed the drivers for bluetooth from the sony website, but they don't allow me to disable bluetooth except through the hard switch on the laptop itself.

For the fans it's normal cuz your laptop is plugged in.
Try to use it on battery and you'll see, the fans will stop running...
For bluetooth try Vaio Smart Network Utility... -
Try the following:

HitokiriX, note that it is for the Vaio SZ691N. You may have to find an equivalent one for your model. Hope this helps. Good luck. -
isn't there a green square shaped icon in the system tray area, it would have LAN printed on it. Open it and uncheck bluetooth box and this will disable it. I have that option on mine and I've seen it on a friends as well.

If HitokiriX wants, say WiFi or EV-DO on, but not Bluetooth, press Fn-F1 until obtaining the desired wireless settings.
