Will the new SZ6 series smaller power brick work with previous SZ series or S series?
The reason I ask is that the sonystyle website states the new ac19v25 power adapters that come with the sz6 are "Designed exclusively for your VAIO® CR and SZ600 series notebook."
However, looking at the pics from the sz6 user review, the specs on the different power bricks are the same.

as long as the brick is outputting the same voltage and enough current (either the same or more than the original brick) then you will be fine!
Because those are the 2 main things, has to be the exact same voltage to be 100% safe, and either the same or greater current output so that it supplies enough juice (the notebook will only draw the current it requires, so any "extra" current that the brick can produce on top of what is needed just wont get used). -
Has anyone ever used the newer slimmer power brick with older SZ models? SZ5xx and lower. Is the plug even the same? The "Designed exclusively for your VAIO® CR and SZ600 series notebook" is what worries me.
-
mate, what are the current and voltage outputs on your brick? and what is the diameter of your plug?
let me know what you have, and I will post what I have, cos I have an SZ6 series with the slim power brick!
then we will know if they are compatible.... -
This is what it shows on my powerbrick, the AC19V10
INPUT: 100-240V ~ 1.3A(1,3 A) 50-60Hz
OUTPUT: 19.5V(19,5 V) _ _ _ 4.7A(4,7 A)
thanks -
INPUT: 100-240V ~ 1.5A(1,5 A) 50-60Hz
OUTPUT: 19.5V(19,5 V) _ _ _ 4.7A(4,7 A)
So my brick draws 200mA (0.2A) more than yours, but the output (the important part) to the notebook is identical! So as long as the adapter fits into your notebook nice and snug your 100% set to go! -
Hey, thanks alot. I hope the plug is the same size.
-
@xprohx: did it fit?

i have a sz250p (using ac adapter VGP-AC19V10) and i would also like to know if the sz6's ac adapter (VGPAC19V25) would work with the sz250p.

OK, will it work on SZ483N/C too?
