What is/are the differences (pro and con) in purchasing an SZ650NC at P1 vs. Best Buy?

Portable One is an authorized reseller so if there are any issues they can fix and/or replace damaged units easier than Best Buy. Seems like the folks at BB aren't too kind to people returning products.

I have a SZ6xx on order. I ordered a few upgrades and asked P1 to remove all bloatware and check on light leakage issue. You are not going to get that level of expertise at BB.

    Good luck!

No tax also with P1? But I assume there will be shipping cost.

I upgraded HDD so I think they are going to do a clean install. Initially, I asked to have everything that is originally loaded on the SZ6xx transfered to the new HDD and I would remove the stuff I don't need.

However, if I did that, I know that there will be rogue root files still on the HDD that may (or may not) affect performance.

that's good...I was worry that they might remove the bloatwares just using control panel or something...

Thank you all for the great info. I'll buy it from P1 when I'm 100% on getting an SZ6.

Does Portable charge for any of the extras, in terms of bloatware removal, and light leakage check? I was planning on just buying a standard SZ650 config.

    Thanks

P1 doesnt charge a penny for bloatware removal or leakage check or pixel check.
Besides, I find their hospitality quite amazing.

I could swear the SZ650 was on sale yesterday at BestBuy. I was at the store looking for some CD's and stopped by the computer dept. I played with the SZ650 and I think it was marked $1849. A salesperson stopped by and told me all the PC's on sale yesterday was going back to regular price today. I was in the store again today and it was marked $2049 so I guess it was true.

A store in my area called microcenter have them for 1999 with a 150 dollar rebate. Of course the rebate pretty much covers the tax, so Portable is only a little bit more, and it sounds like the service there is good.
