SZ6: wrong screen resolution resuming from sleep

I am running Vista Business in Speed mode. I have my resolution set to maximum 1280*800. After resuming from sleep mode (closing lid), the screen pops up in a lower resolution (1024x768). I have to manually increase it again.

Interesting-- this problem only occurs when i close to lid to enter sleep. When I put the system to sleep using the start menu, and then resume, the correct resolution is maintained?!

Does this happen for anyone else? Bug?

I just asked this question a couple of days ago, and was told that the M1330 had a similar issue. I searched on the forums, and the advice for fixing the M1330 issue was to get updated drivers.

I went to Sony's site to get the updated nVidia driver, but no dice. I think we're stuck with correcting it manually each time for now ...

That's odd... if enough people are having this issue it seems like someone would release a new driver or some bug fix.

The only place you can download his nVidia driver is from the Sony website. If you try to download it from the nVidia website, it directs you to go to the Sony site. And no, Sony doesn't appear to have an updated driver, and re-installing what they offered on the site didn't help.

Is it true that it only happens in Speed mode?

Hopefully they come out with a fix soon... and thankfully it's not too much of a burden to swap the resolutions back.

Try the first link in my signature. I suspect Microsoft's TMM may be to blame.

    NinjaNoodles,

Sounds like this is a widespread problem on multiple laptops with Vista.

You were right! Disabling TMM fixed the "wrong resolution after resuming from sleep" problem. But when I use my laptop at work with the external display, it is going to be a headache without this feature.

So is this a Vista bug or Nvidia/Sony? I wonder who I should report it to

    Guys,

I figured out the solution as soon as I got my computer (about a month ago). All you have to do is go to the desktop, right click, go to Nvidia Control Panel, Click Display, Click Change Resolution Attributes, Set to wanted resolution.

Now, save this and quit out of it. Right click on desktop and hit personalize. Go to Display Settings. Change the resolution there. Save it. Close, and you're done!! Restart and test out on sleep mode. It always goes back to 1280x800 for me now.

Hope this helps. Any repping is appreciated.

    Didn't work.

I'm not sure why you'd think that would work either. All you're doing is changing the resolution in 2 different places (ie. doing the same thing).

Has anyone found a REAL fix for this? I read that it has to do with Vista's external monitor detection?

Try updating your SZ6 BIOS to R0101S5, if you haven't already, and your nVidia Vista driver with the latest version at LaptopVideo2Go and their modified inf. Be sure to use Driver Sweeper after you've uninstalled your existing driver.

Is there a utility in the drivers folder.
    setreso.exe
I think this is for the settings of the default resolution coming out from sleep/hibernation.

You should try if its working...

Hey, I was wondering, if I use the modded INF along with the latest drivers from nVidia, will the brightness keys and such will still work properly?

A more helpful post would have been a link to that solution.
