SZ680 has carbon case and the 640 doesn't. I think the batterys are different aswell.

Well, battery models are different for sure but what about capacity? Is it similar?

    I can't find detailed specification for SZ640 :(

Why would the batteries be different?

I do know that the batteries have changed from the old generation to the new generation of SZ6's.

SZ 4 and below have 5200 maH at 11.1 volts
and SZ 6 now have 5800 maH at 10.8 volts
I believe multiplying them together gives you Watt-Hours, which is the true measure of how "long" a battery will last on a charge, which is what 99% of us care about the most.

I think you get an extra 6 watt-hours with the newest SZ6 batteries, however, I am led to believe that power-consumption has increased, so maybe it's all about the same in terms of final runtime.

SZ640 also does not have the LED screen.
