My SZ650 have a led backlight problem which discussed many threads on this forum.. ( 3 or 4 vertical yellowish-green bands that are more noticeable on white backgrounds and low brightness level..)

Are there anyone live with it ? Is Upgrade the HDD void warranty ?

you got a lemon screen, meaning a defective screen, and I'd absolutely return the computer as Sony needs to know that these screens are unacceptable for a premium notebook, i.e., the most expensive mass-produced notebook out there.

FWIW, I've seen 5 demo models of the SZ 650 and every single one of them had this problem. If there are any that don't have this problem to varying degrees, then I haven't seen one.

I had my screen replaced under warranty and on site. The new screen is perfect so they do exist.
    YMMV

That is good to know Sony took care of your problem screen and that you are satisfied. It is an awesome notebook when all is as it should be.

changing hard drives does void the warranty, but if you just put back the old hard drive, you'll be fine

plus, they might not notice anyway if you dont switch them back

    Hello

Yes! I think that only for repair not a replacement they will replace the defective part to correct this kind of issue report it to sony and they will service and repair the unit.

    Hi,
I have the same yellowish banding and light leakage problem in my sz650. I did a live chat with sony rep and they suggest me to do recovery and install new updates. Do you think that it will fix the problem? Coz I don't think so.
