I just received my SZ650 and performed a semi-clean install as shown in this thread (Thanks IIIaman!):
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=144727
Looks like it worked. I haven't searched the hdd yet, but there's a lot less bloatware installed on my desktop right now.
The install went exactly like IIIaman said. You do have to be really persistent to kill the "Recover C:" process, but eventually you can get it.
Mine did reboot one extra time then stated in the guide, and complained about an error before rebooting again and finishing installing windows. I'll let you know if I encounter any more errors because of this.

Nice job, netvandal! I'm definitely going to try the same thing when I get mine.
When you say "there's a lot less bloatware installed" it means that you still have some "unwanted" programs installed? Which one(s)? -
Only real bloatware I've found so far is Napster, just like in stated in the other thread. There's also a few Internet links to bloatware, and Adobe Acrobat (but I need that one, so I don't mind).

Just fine...these ones seem easy to be removed.
Let us know if you find any minor problems (which I really hope you won't).
Thanks. -
You can order a Windows Vista disk here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/buyorupgrade/addlicense/howto.mspx
(See 'If you need a Windows Vista disc' right above the table).
Once the drivers on the Sony esupport site are up, you shouldn't have any problems with a completely clean install.
